Help Our Neighbors
Recover from the Wildfires

Our neighbors in Greater Los Angeles are facing devastating losses from the recent wildfires. St. Katherine Ladies Philoptochos Society joined the national relief effort to support affected families and communities.

Following the National Philoptochos Society's recent coordination with the Metropolis of San Francisco to assess the situation and identify specific needs, we are now mobilizing our local chapter's response. At the direction of our parish leadership, we waited to ensure our efforts would align with the broader coordinated relief strategy.

Philoptochos Society Pledges $50,000 for Hurricane Helene Relief

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm that struck Florida's Big Bend region on September 26, 2024, causing widespread devastation and 227 deaths across multiple states, the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society has mobilized a comprehensive relief effort.

The National Philoptochos has committed $50,000 in total relief funds, divided equally between International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and Samaritan's Purse. IOCC deployed their assessment team on October 2 for Phase I response, focusing on cleanup, essential supplies, and emotional support, while Samaritan's Purse has established operations across FL, GA, and NC with disaster response teams and equipment.

The Atlanta Metropolis Philoptochos has initiated a special appeal to assist Orthodox Christian families and individuals affected by the storm. To maximize our collective impact, the Archdiocesan District Philoptochos is coordinating a unified response through its chapters.
